NASA has confirmed that the Phoenix Mars Lander has identified water on Mars, while heating samples of soil it found in a trench. This is the first real instance of confirmed water samples on mars, and thus pave the way for finding positive signs of life on Mars, because water is a requirement for life as we know it. Heating of samples and resulting vapor led scientists to conclude that the rover had identified water for the first time. Read More

New Hubble Space Telescope observations of six spectacular galaxy clusters acting as gravitational lenses have given significant insights into the early stages of the Universe. Scientists have found the largest sample of very distant galaxies seen to date: ten promising candidates thought to lie at a distance of 13 billion light-years (~redshift 7.5).

The news is that The Mars Pheonix Lander, a robot taksed with exploration missions on Mars, shut its robotic arm down over the weekend, refusing to follow NASA directions after "realizing" those actions would have damaged its wrist! Read More
